02Where we started
We built brands and websites for Canadian small businesses by hand. The work came first; Canadian Branding Atelier Ltd. is the name we registered for it later.
Two things about the industry bothered us from the start. The jargon: owners nodding politely at words nobody uses in real life. And the shrug: you spend the money, get something that looks nice, and when you ask whether it worked, you hear “these things take time.”
So we work by two rules. We write and speak in plain words; if your neighbour wouldn't understand it, we rewrite it. And we measure the work, before we start and again at the end, so you can see what your money did.
